PURPOSE
At Roots, we provide a long-term residential community with Peer Support for women who are homeless, women with children, and pregnant women. We focus on the steps to successfully rebuild lives shattered by abuse, addiction, or poverty, including education, job training, and life skills
VISION
Five acres. Five years.
Since Roots began working to achieve our goals, we have opened three residential homes, a Community Center, an emergency shelter, a life-skills peer support program, and a computer lab for educational programs and job skills.
Over the next five years, our development plan calls for an additional 21 tiny homes to meet the needs of women and children in crisis.
I understand that all women live a life of choice, free from addiction, and full of love and purpose. From my heart to yours, this is my path - to lift you up! Catherine McDowell, Executive Director of Roots
CHILDREN
At Roots, we know that intervention works best for women if they can continue caring for their children while rebuilding their lives. Watching their mothers change and grow is a valuable healing milestone for children as they move forward. The needs of children are addressed in all elements of our program, including safe baby, parenting education, and social learning. Our program focuses on playing, reading, and learning for future success in their own lives.
