“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Historically, women have been systematically excluded from full participation in the American experience and consequently lack the self-efficacy to improve their life situation. In the end, society pays the costs when women encounter barriers to achieving their potential. At Roots, we are working to decrease the number of women suffering from homelessness and poverty, and reduce the number of children entering the foster care system. By providing safe homes, providing a comprehensive life skills program and personalized peer-to-peer support, and building an overall healthy foundation for future progress, we see amazing results in the success of the women we serve.

Service Recipients ( 2021: 387)
We are on target to serve over 450 women and their children in 2022.

Number of applications for housing received ( 2021: 118)
In the first 6 months of 2022, we have received 87 applications, and we anticipate receiving over 200 as the economy continues to affect the housing market.

College Graduates (2021: 1)
In 2021 one woman completed her Associate’s degree. In June 2022, we congratulate Kimberly for completing her Licensed Practical Nurse studies! Nicole is working on her Business Degree, and Laura begins her Social Work studies in the fall.

Children NOT referred to foster care (2021: 3)
In the first 6 months of 2022, 5 children have NOT entered the foster care system, and one has left the system, being reunited with his mother.

Small businesses started ( 2021: 2)
Of the two businesses started by women in 2021, one has doubled her profits in the first 6 months of 2022. The second has branched off, creating a second product line, and has expanded her market. Three women have entered the workforce with full-time jobs that they love!

Number of clients referred to other services ( 2021: 187)
We hope the number of women referred to other agencies in 2022 decreases as we can provide more services
