What If Your Mom or Sister or Daughter Needed Help?

At Roots, we are working to decrease the number of women suffering from homelessness and poverty, and reduce the number of children entering the foster care system by keeping families together. By providing safe homes, providing a comprehensive life skills program and personalized peer-to-peer supervision, and building an overall healthy foundation for future progress, we see amazing results in the success of the women we serve.

Got too much clutter in the garage? Give your extra items a new home by donating to the Roots yard sale fundraiser. Every donation helps women and children in need.

Housing

While based in rural North Carolina, we are able to assist women both in and outside of our facilities by providing emergency shelter, life-skills, peer support programming, educational and job skills training, and growing residential facilities. With three homes open, our plan calls for 21 additional tiny homes to be built over the next five years.

Peer Support

Roots support women at all stages of life to rebuild their lives after experiencing trauma. Every woman’s story is unique, and every woman faces individual challenges to their stability and growth as individuals. We provide a solidly structured framework incorporating emotional, spiritual, and intellectual growth so that our residents and community members can face the difficulties ahead with a sense of purpose and the inner strength they need to thrive.

Education/ Job Skills

Education provides not only the practical tools to thrive financially but also instills the confidence to meet life’s challenges with purpose and dignity. Whether it’s finishing a high school degree, getting a college education, or attending a technical school program, we meet each woman where she is and help her get to where she wants to be.

Our Mission

We have created a residential housing community at Roots to support women on their life journey, not just a place to live. Through peer-supported growth for women who are homeless, women with children, and pregnant women, we focus on the steps to successfully rebuild lives shattered by abuse, addiction, or poverty, including education, job training, and life skills.
